Lube Stop Tire Humboldt Oil Change Lube Services Filter Valve Inspections Changes Replace Transmission Filter Changes

What is a Transmission Filter Changes service?

Lube Stop’s Transmission Filter Changes service is the replacement of the dirty oil filter in your transmission’s valve body with a new, clean one.  The transmission filter is located above the transmission pan, which is the component that catches the excess fluid.  The filter is also situated below the pickup tube, which connects to the oil pump.  It’s best to change it when you are also flushing or changing the transmission fluid and gasket.

Your transmission filter is responsible for preventing any contaminants in the lubricating fluids, such as dirt and debris, from being sent into the transmission.  As the transmission grows older, general wear and tear may cause metal shavings to get into the transmission fluid as well.  The transmission is one of the most important parts of your vehicle’s engine.  It’s what transfers the power that the engine generates to your vehicle’s wheels.

Lube Stop provides this service as needed.  To determine if it is needed, we look for signs that the transmission filter is dirty, clogged or worn.  So, a visual inspection to detect dust or dirt is done alongside inspection of the condition of your transmission fluid.  If it’s dirty, the chances are that so is your filter.  Following that, Lube Stop also inspects for other indicators such as a burning odor or dark color to the fluid.  Or odd noises noticed while shifting gears or trouble shifting gears could also indicate trouble.  If any of these are present, we recommend replacing the filter to the customer.  If the customer agrees, then we proceed with the transmission filter replacement service.

So, always bring any indicators of trouble to the attention of our Lube Stop technicians.  These include signs of dirty fluid, shifting gear problems and strange burning odors.  From there, we will trouble shoot and determine if you need to replace or change the filter.

We do this so you can enjoy the benefits of a well functioning and maintained transmission.

What is a Transmission Filter for?

The transmission filter helps remove contaminants from your vehicle’s transmission oil that keeps your car’s transmission running.  It keeps your wheels turning properly.  The oil is necessary to ensure that all the transmissions parts are moving without friction.  Obviously that oil needs to be kept clean.  So, the filter does that.  If it becomes clogged, it can fail to do its job in providing clean oil to the transmission which can result in failure or seizure.

Why Do I Need a Oil Filter Changes service?

The Transmission Filter Changes service is the replacement of the transmission filter used in vehicles to help keep the transmission operating well.  A clean filter helps your vehicle’s transmission deliver lots of benefits.  For example, it keeps your wheels turning, your gears shifting, your ride smooth and your drive reliable.  It also contributes to better fuel economy, acceleration, and reduced emissions.

We do these filter changes so that our customers can avoid problems with the transmission in their car, truck, or SUV.  The transmission filter is an important maintenance item responsible for ensuring your transmission works well and doesn’t break down.  This is because when a filter does its job, internal transmission components are protected from contaminants that can cause major damage.  For example, gears, rods, valves, gaskets, etc.

So, it is fair to conclude that a dirty, clogged or worn transmission filter is NOT something you want to ignore.

That’s why we check the transmission filter every visit.  We need to make sure that it is clean and functioning properly.  We understand that it costs a little in the short run to change this filter out.  But it saves a lot in the long run.

How Often Do I Need It?

The transmission filter should be checked each time you have service with Lube Stop.  And, of course, we should check it anytime you have observed issues.  Your owner’s manual will also advise you to do it at various intervals.  Please check your manual.

Also, lean on us at Lube Stop for advice.  We use a system of processes called Precision Based Recommendations to help investigate a vehicle’s overall condition.  This system of inspection and trouble shooting helps us get a clearer picture of your car, truck, or SUV as it stands, today.  That is because it removes the guess work.  Learn more about this system below.

Context for these Services

Your vehicle uses an internal combustion engine.  This engine uses the combustion of fuel to power almost everything.  This is done when fuel alongside an air oxidizer and spark plugs creates a working fluid flow circuit inside a combustion chamber.

In your internal combustion engine, the expansion of the high-temperature and high-pressure gases produced by combustion applies direct force to some component of the engine.  The force is applied typically to pistons, turbine blades, rotors and nozzles.  This force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into useful work.

Typically, your combustion engine is fed with fossil fuels like natural gas or petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel fuel or fuel oil.  Your engine is the hub for many things, including those listed below.

  • combustion chamber
  • cylinder head
  • camshaft
  • set of spark plugs
  • valvetrain
  • valves
  • rocker arms
  • pushrods
  • lifters
  • fuel injectors
  • pistons
  • connecting rods
  • engine block
  • crankcase
  • crankshaft
  • timing system
  • timing chain

All these work in unison to power all the other systems within your vehicle.  Without a fully functioning engine, everything else suffers.  So, let us at Lube Stop keep your engine functioning and everything else that relies on it.
